I have the exact same problem as hansie describes. I am trying to put Trusty (14.04 LTS, 32 bit version) on a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 with an AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core processor, 1024 DDR2 SDRAM--same laptop as hansie. There is no flickering/blinking on the original download of Trusty with Linux 3.13.0-32. The flickering/blinking started, when I did my first update to Linux 3.13.0-48. I did a further update to Linux 3.13.0-49 and the problem continued. So at least 2 people have this problem and I am pretty sure that any other Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 user has the same problem. I see the problem is labelled as low priority. To me it is not low priority, because I would like to have a long term support (LTS) os on my computer. However, if the problem is fixed in 15.04 (as hansie states), I guess I could go with that until the next LTS.
Has anybody tried the 64 bit version of 14.04???
