i found a workaround (disclaimer .. i am a noob) Install dconf-tools (sudo apt-get install dconf-tools) Open dconf-editor as a user (don't use sudo)

If there are long folder names, you will not be able to see any of the other information without scrolling vertically. FWIW, the pointer DOES change into resize arrows but even if you click and drag to resize the columns, nothing will happen.
