The feature is still here, but strangely it seems you need to go in fullscreen
mode to access it (in the top right menu)
There are probably several menus items that are missing in standard view

Title:
after upgrade from ubuntu 14.10 to 15.04 I can't download subtitles
  anymore

Status in totem package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
In the previous version of Totem that was shipped with Ubuntu 14.10,
there was the option to download subtitles. Those were then fetched
from opensubtitles I believe. In Ubuntu 15.04, that option is now
missing, I have to search for the subtitles myself and load them.

The old situation was much easier because the search is done on a file
hash which almost always resulted in correct subtitles. Can this
functionality be added again. (And why is it removed in the first
  place?)
