I've reported this bug upstream: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=662240 and after suggestion from Martin Nordholts (GIMP developer), I compiled GTK+ from 2.24.5 from ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/2.24/ and than BABL, GEGL and GIMP from git. The bug does not appear after that (for GIMP from git). So it looks like the problem is Ubuntu's implementation of GTK+.
