reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the stable

  Video garbled, shows only lines, audio ok

Status in “totem” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: totem

  I am trying to play video files, mostly avi. On windows the files play 
without any problem. But on ubuntu movie player, the video shows horizontal 
lines only, and the audio is loud n clear.. no problem with audio. I have tried 
installing dvgrab 3.5 with all dependencies as stated in one of the posts in 
ubuntu forums found after searching on google , still the problem persists :(
  I have ubuntu 10.10 with all updates installed. The video source is my 
external hard drive :)
