Title:
[amd64][nv8600gt] karmic/lucid nvidia proprietary cause system crash
when xserver-xorg starts
Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
Binary package hint: nvidia-glx-185
1. install any amd64 ubuntu-based distro 9.10/10.04.
2. install nvidia drivers via apt/jockey/envyng/nvidia.com's installer/s (all
have the same outcome).
3. reboot or startx, soon after system crashes completely.
Tried every how-to I could find the past 3 days. Xorg.conf settings
till I turned blue in my face. Lots of kernels and some different
drivers from 173 to 195. Same hardware running i386 kernels works
100%. Not easy for me to debug so if there's some tips of how I can
retrieve info please! At the moment I use another computer to ssh into
this one with the problem so that I can get feedback via pts just
before the system halts.
