But I filed the bug when the version *was* supported. It seems like, because it took so long for you to check the bug that the version it was reported on became unsupported, it should be your job to check if the problem exists in the currently supported version and update the bug accordingly.
Instead of just waiting for bugs to become invalid because you've moved on to a new version. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/562468 Title: No way to save video configuration in Lucid Beta 2 Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Binary package hint: xorg In Lucid there is no user-facing way to save the video configuration because of a catch 22. Here is how to replicate: 1. Go to System -> Preferences -> Monitors 2. Get an error: "It appears that your graphics card does not support the necessary extensions to use this tool. Do you want to use your graphics vendor's tool instead?" 3. Click Yes 4. NVidia X Server Settings program is launched 5. Change some settings 6. NVidia X Server Settings can only save to xorg.conf. Go to X Server Display Configuration -> Save to X Configuration File 7. Get error because Lucid does not use xorg.conf: "Failed to parse existing X config file" 8. Click OK 9. Get prompted to specify the location of the file 10. Can't specify the location because it doesn't exist 11. Click Save anyways 12. Get error: "Unable to remove old X config backup" So the catch 22 is: I can't use Ubuntu's tool to enable my second monitor because my video device isn't supported by it, however I can't use NVidia's tool because Ubuntu Lucid doesn't support xorg.conf. So, every time I reboot I have to launch NVidia's configuration tool and re-configure all of my video settings.
