Hi, I took a look at this issue. While the upstream bug was closed quite some time ago, a fixed version seems to have landed in Ubuntu only quite recently. The typo is fixed in empathy 3.12.9-1ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 15.04 (see attached screenshot), but it looks like all older releases are still affected. I am not sure what caused the delay, though there was a jump from empathy 3.8 to 3.12 so maybe that explains it. In any case, the bug seems fixed. :)
