Thunderbird has mangled my messages with parts of existing messages
making it impossible to communicate further.

Bug description:
As of today all incoming messages in Thunderbird are mixed with parts
of existing messages. I issued a REINDEX command which appeared to
work, however the problem remains. I hate to lose a few years of mail,
but it seems a complete reinstallation may be due. :-(
