Hi hugohirsch, Since a moth (July 2015) I am having the same problem. (Up to now everything worked pretty well,...4 years) Randomly the Ubuntu freezes ( no ctr+atl+F1 or ssh) works). completely frozen. Sometimes takes 1 hr sometimes 10 minutes.
I am not sure if it is because the graphics driver. I tried, gnome3, unity, firefox and epiphany or even just with a gnome-terminal , I have a steelseries 6GV2 keyboard ( I changed it by the original, but also gets frozen), when playing with the windows suddenly the CPU fan starts to rise its speed and Ubuntu freezes. Sometimes the fan is kept at hogh rate others at low. It happens in a ACER PC intel i5 with nvidia GT 215 [geforce 320][av2] I have ubuntu in a labtop with radeon card and it works well. It is quite annoying. If somebody could help would be fantastic. Regards p.s. From a time to now many people is experiencing such problems. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314405 Title: Screen freezes due to Xorg crashed SIGABRT and nouveau error Status in Nouveau Xorg driver: Unknown Status in xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The machine just freezes in my Unity session, sometimes after minutes, sometimes after some hours.
