Black screen when opening Unity Control Center

Bug description:
affects unity-control-center
When I open the system settings the screens become black for 1-2
seconds and than the the desktop appears again. I have the same
behavior when I open qtcreator.
System configuration:
HP xw6400 Workstation
Intel Xeon CPU 5110 @ 1.60GHz × 4
Quadro NVS 285/PCIe/SSE2
2 monitors
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64bit
