Actually, the situation seems even worse in Oneiric. 1) Neither /usr/bin/gnome-wm nor the /desktop/gnome/session keys exist, so I can't figure out the intended way to set the window manager for gnome 2) Not only the "Ubuntu" sessions use metacity, but the special "Sawfish" session installed by sawfish _also_ starts metacity...
