Is there no way we can incorporate the kernel fix with the future updates? Will install only depending on make being Toshiba? Can anyone confirm that this affects only few or all Toshiba Laptops?

I searched and found that a lot of people are experiencing the same problem, since this needs a kernel level fix, no resolutions/wordarounds are posted anywhere. I have tried many Ubuntu versions (old and new) and all of them posses the same issue. I have even tried several other distros(Centos/Mandriva/OpenSuse) but results were the same.
