Hey, It seems that this problem with chat notifications is gone. Notifications works fine in thunderbird 38.2.0 in supported LTS 14.04. I don't know how it's possible, maybe someone accidentally fixed it, so keep it please.

When I setup new XMPP (Jabber) account and new message arrived to me, thunderbird doesn't notify me about that. This makes the chat feature useless. I expect same notification as for new email.
