Whenever I lock my screen, compiz's CPU usage goes through the roof and it causes the CPU fan to spin up to max speed. I SSH'ed into the machine while it was locked to verify that it was indeed the compiz process causing the high cpu usage. When I unlock my computer, everything goes back to normal.
