Public bug reported:

Discovered this while working on a DRM-free release of an unannounced
game port to Linux.

Mojosetup calls xdg-desktop-menu to populate the system menu, but this
tool does a splatter-shot approach to getting the desktop entries
installed and creates with `mkdir -p` ~/.gnome/apps/ whether the user
uses that now very old Gnome 2 location or not.

Currently $XDG_DATA_HOME/applications/ is used by most|some DEs. I have
no idea how the KDE side of this behaves.

There is a dormant upstream bug report with a patch attached here
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90775

** Affects: xdg-utils (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Confirmed
