Title:
Firefox 44 breaks fontconfig (yet again)

Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
I have a fontconfig setup to use TeX Gyre family fonts (and related)
instead of the Microsoft fonts from ttf-core-fonts, and I have
successfully used such a setup until some of the Firefox updates in
the past broke it. I played with my config and found a fix, and it
worked until Firefox 44, when that broke again.

See the screenshots for the reference. Non-Latin characters are
displayed using the wrong font, even a serif one, which isn't even
close to what I have in the config. Importantly, no other apps broke.

Any ideas how can that be fixed?
