Same behaviour on a Ubuntu 15.10 VMWare VM running on Windows 7. No "DisplayLink" USB display adapter present. Closing the window (clicking on X) makes the window disappear. Kill -1 of the unity-settings-daemon makes it reappear.

(related to DisplayLink adapter) Status in unity-settings-daemon package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: My computer has Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bits). After I log in in the (default) desktop, I see a window (completely black) in the middle of the screen. The black window has no title and anything in it. (like an empty terminal) I identified the process related to that window by using a terminal console and using: xprop | grep WM_CLASS The output was: $ xprop | grep WM_CLASS WM_CLASS(STRING) = "unity-settings-daemon", "Unity-settings-daemon" So the black window is related or coming from "unity-settings-daemon". For now I simply close it and nothing happens. I think this window is related to my "DisplayLink" USB display adapter. (Diamond BVU 195) Any idea why this window appears ? thanks ssinfod To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-settings-daemon/+bug/1402454/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
