Public bug reported:
Since upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04, LibreOffice (1:5.1.1-0ubuntu3) hangs
with the logo is displayed. If I launch LibreOffice with a document
argument then it actually does open, and I can see the content of the
document, before it hangs. Messages printed to the console don't seem
to be helpful:
** (soffice:23839): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to accessibility bus: Failed
to connect to socket /tmp/dbus-2dm4QTMT9Q: Connection refused
(soffice:23839): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_window_set_icon_list: icons too large
(soffice:23839): Gdk-WARNING **: gdk_window_set_icon_list: icons too large
I've tried running it with both SAL_NO_XINITTHREADS=true and
SAL_NOOPENGL=true but it made no difference. I'm not quite sure how to
isolate what it is actually hanging on. If I run libreoffice with
--backtrace, I'm not able to interrupt gdb once it's hung to actually
get a backtrace. I've attached the output of libreoffice --strace. You
can see the section near the end where it is hung:
24038 14:05:16.708771 futex(0x7f9cf7b006e0, FUTEX_WAKE_PRIVATE, 1) = 0
24038 14:05:16.708805 futex(0x7f9cf7b0094c,
FUTEX_WAIT_BITSET_PRIVATE|FUTEX_CLOCK_REALTIME, 5, {1459969526, 708762000},
ffffffff <unfinished ...>
24045 14:05:16.792103 <... futex resumed> ) = -1 ETIMEDOUT (Connection timed
out)
This just repeats indefinitely. After that is what happens when I
manually kill (ctrl-c in this case) the process.
Update: I removed my ~/.config/libreoffice directory, and it started
right up. Must be something in the upgrade process causing this. I
still have the old config directory if we want to debug this further.
