Title: No option to select app from custom location to open type of files Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When you have a type of file, for example a Gimp file, .xcf, I used to be able to select a custom built Gimp as default to open the file with, by browsing to the directory I built it in. The option to select the application through a path is gone. This is a serious regression, limits the freedom of the user, and makes it impossible to use custom built applications as default when the user wants, or even needs it. Ubuntu does not always ship the latest and greatest version of software, and sometimes these are exactly the ones that are needed. The only options that appear are the apps installed by the software center, or 'search online', which are neither what I need. The option to select the app from the users custom location is necessary. I hope this will be fixed very soon.
