Updated to 14.04.2 LTS - till then no crash of the X server happened before.
Upgrading to latest HWE via:
  sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-utopic 
xserver-xorg-lts-utopic libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-utopic 
libegl1-mesa-drivers-lts-utopic

Result:

Unfortunately X server crashes now about once in 1-2 hours.
  /var/crash/_usr_bin_Xorg.0.uploaded
written but unable to report with
  sudo ubuntu-bug xorg
due to error message:
  (process:488): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size 
== 0' failed

My hardware is Intel graphics: 3000 HD with Sandy Bridge and i7-2600K (4x 
3.40GHz) with
 ASUS P8H67-M Evo B3, Intel H67
