Compiz is using 50-100 % CPU time with Unity

Bug description:
When in Unity mode, Compiz is usage never drops below 20 % and quite
often around 50 %. This disappears when I switch into Gnome Classic no
effects mode.
This machine is using two monitor dual head with NVidia.
