Left click not working in workspace only

Bug description:
Left click randomly stops working *only* in workspace, i.e. launch column and
top menu bar. Clicking otherwise completely normal on the desktop and running
applications.
Workaround: Change user and re-enter password. No need to log out of the
session: [Ctl][Alt]+[L] and retype password.
