Bug description:
This is apparently caused by vala 0.32
https://bugs.debian.org/820641
and will be fixed once we get GTK+ 3.20, probably later in the yakkety
cycle. I'm filing this bug so hopefully others won't waste as much
time trying to figure out what broke.
