Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04, and sometimes when my system freezes, I need
to unfreeze it via Ctrl+Alt+F1 + typing `sudo pkill -u <username>`. When
doing this, 100% of the times desktop settings are reset (the ones that
are set with the tweaker - or something - app).

All extensions are disabled, all settings are switched back to defaults.

Also happens sometimes when external monitor is present: closing the lid
and unplugging it will make gnome-session settings go back to defaults.

** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
