Tried to use ubuntu-bug to report this, but since it relies on Firefox (and there's no mouse..) it is frustratingly difficult to achieve. Uninstalling xserver-xorg-input-vmmouse solves the stuck mouse problem but we lose the grab/ungrab functionality.
