Bug description:
Thunderbird 45 seems to ignore Fontconfig: If bitmap fonts have been
activated in Fontconfig, these can be used in Thunderbird 38 (xenial),
but not in Thunderbird 45 (xenial-updates). Other applications (e.g.
gnome-terminal) are not affected and continue to work with bitmap
fonts just fine.

If bitmap fonts are activated (rm /etc/fonts/conf.d/70-no-bitmaps.conf ; ln
-s /etc/fonts/conf.avail/70-force-bitmaps.conf /etc/fonts/conf.d/), Thunderbird
is supposed to offer the fonts from the xfonts-75dpi package (e.g.
LucidaTypewriter) under Preferences -> Display -> Formatting -> Fonts & Colors
-> Default font and in the "Advanced" dialog there.
4) What happens instead:
Bitmap fonts are not listed in Thunderbird 45.
