Thanks, I read again the bug about why unity-greeter-badges got added and it feels a bit boggus to me, those are simple and small icons and there is no reason they couldn't be included upstream/in debian invidual packages for the different desktop environment.
That said now that we have it the package is small and having a recommends shouldn't hurt, it would need a https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MainInclusionProcess though. Having the icons in unity-greeter itself feels a bit wrong, it put the maintainance cost at the wrong place. It would mean we need a greeter update every time one of those desktop wants to tweak its icon... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to unity-greeter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602098 Title: Merge or declare relationship with unity-greeter-badges Status in unity-greeter package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hello! I maintain the unity-greeter-badges package, which contains quite a few badges for various window managers and desktop environments. As suggested by Jeremy Bicha in [1], I would like to inquire whether it would be possible to either: (a) merge the badges from the unity-greeter-badges package into unity- greeter or (b) declare a Recommends or Suggests relationship on unity-greeter- badges This would make it easier for users of these window managers and desktop environments to acquire the appropriate badges for Unity Greeter, without needing to learn about the unity-greeter-badges package somehow and explicitly installing it. Thank you!
