Title:
nvidia driver needs to support 4.7 & 4.8 kernels

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Trying to install the 4.7 kernel (canonical-kernel-team unstable ppa)
with a nvidia-361 driver (yakkety default) fails to build.

This is due to a new variable name used both by nvidia & the kernel:
    http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=1750 (explanation)

Instead of following the tweaks explained above, a ready to use nvidia-367
driver works very well on my yakkety 64 bits installation with 4.6 & 4.7
kernels.
   ppa:mamarley/staging

So the easiest way for nvidia users is to use that 'mamarley' ppa
  (thanks for his job)

Maybe it could be pushed into the yakkety archive.
