I don't know if this is the same issue, but sometimes trying to paste the screenshot into Pinta results in an error that the contents of the clipboard is not a valid image.

When I take a snapshot (Print Screen or Shift+Print Screen), I get the gnome-screenshot dialog with the options "Copy to clipboard" and "Save file". Saving file works, but copy to clipboard an pasting to another application doesn't. Copy and paste of images does work in general (e.g. by using the "Copy image" option in the browser - I can paste this image to another program), so this seems to be solely related to gnome-screenshot.
