I've been suffering this problem with SSHFS mounts too in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (today Ubuntu 14.04.5 and LibreOffice 4.2.8.2). The only way to edit documents and have usable menus is to disconnect all SSHFS mounts. As slower SSHFS mount is, slower LibreOffice works.
