Title:
  HP OfficeJet Scanner not recognized

Status in xsane package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xsane

My HP OfficeJet's scanning function is not recognized by sane in
Karmic, although it works perfectly in Jaunty. It prints well in both.
  The scan path is: /usr/bin/xsane -V %SANE_URI%.

I have two computers with partitions running Karmic, and the problem
is the same with both. I looked in the Synaptic package manager for
any items used by Jaunty that aren't present in Karmic, but any
missing files found made no difference. My system was just checked for
  updates.

lsusb sees the device as does hp toolbox.

  Ubuntu Karmic (development branch)
  Version 9.10
