Public bug reported:

Since upgrading to yakkety on this machine I see frequent instances of
the screen "scrambling," for lack of a better work. What I mean is that
for a split second things appear at the wrong location on the screeen,
as though the video has lost sync temporarily. Then it returns to
normal. It happens frequently but not on a regular interval - I'd
estimate anywhere between 5 and 30 seconds between occurrences in
general.

I'm running a 4.8 kernel from the canonical-kernel-team ppa right now,
but I don't think this is a kernel problem, or at least not wholly a
kernel problem, because it also happens with 4.4 kernels (though it
seems less frequent with 4.4). This didn't happen at all with xenial.
