I agree this is not technically accurate.
However when I fixed the same bug in Xmir a while back I was told by a
Xorg expert that we intend to keep the display resolution at 96x96 DPI
for backward compatibility.

Bug description:
xdypinfo reports wrong screen dimensions and resolution (always 96x96
dpi).
$ xdpyinfo | grep -B2 resolution
screen #0:
dimensions: 3840x2160 pixels (1016x571 millimeters)
resolution: 96x96 dots per inch
However, xrandr reports the right dimensions:
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 3840 x 2160, maximum 32767 x 32767
