This feature seems to have been broken in the between snapd 1.9 and 2.0.

This change stopped using the function that calculates the size:

commit 99052dd601daeb1d74fa5ac3eca4e89984282491
Author: Samuele Pedroni <[email protected]>
Date: Thu Apr 14 21:29:21 2016 +0200

make api getSnapInfo state based, start adjusting mapSnap signature
and rework its callers

And this change removed the function entirely (since nothing was using
it anymore):

Title:
Installed snaps show size as "Calculating..."

Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged
Status in snapd package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  [Impact]
When viewing information about installed snaps they all show their size as
"Calculating...". This is because snapd is not providing any size information
for installed snaps.

  [Test Case]
  1. Start GNOME Software
  2. Select a snap that is installed (e.g. moon-buggy)
  3. Check details section

  Exepected result:
Section shows appropriate size of snap

  Observed result:
Section shows "Calculating..." for the size. It is never calculated.

  [Regression potential]
Low, the solution is to populate the field.
