GTK theme is not applied in Classic session

Status in gnome-session package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
The Adwaita GTK theme is not applied to the Classic session.
Instead it forces the Ubuntu Ambiance theme.

I can chose to use Adwaita in GNOME Tweak Tool and it works in GNOME
but not in GNOME Classic session.

This is a regression, it worked fine 2-3 days ago. Then the Unity 8 /
Mir thing was pushed out, and that's when it broke.
