Just installed Ubuntu MATE 16.10 and I still have problems with the 304
drivers. Module still can't install with these in syslog:

Oct 16 16:50:24 sdf1 kernel: [ 31.814521] nvidia: Unknown symbol mtrr_del
(err 0)
Oct 16 16:50:24 sdf1 kernel: [ 31.815037] nvidia: Unknown symbol mtrr_add
(err 0)

It's an Inspiron E1705 with
NVIDIA Corporation G71M [GeForce Go 7900 GS] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA
controller])

I see the fix released for Debian but the patch doesn't seem to be in
304 for Ubuntu 16.10. Am going to patch the .run myself for now and
install manually.

Title:
Can't be inserted into 4.3 kernel

Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-304 package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in Debian:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I just installed "nvidia-current", which was probably an error (I'm now using
-352) but nevertheless it couldn't be loaded into my 4.3 kernel, on xenial.

Jan 05 12:10:54 raleigh.local kernel: mtrr: no MTRR for f1000000,e00000 found
  Jan 05 12:10:55 raleigh.local kernel: nvidia: Unknown symbol mtrr_del (err 0)
  Jan 05 12:10:55 raleigh.local kernel: nvidia: Unknown symbol mtrr_add (err 0)
  Jan 05 12:10:55 raleigh.local kernel: nvidia: Unknown symbol mtrr_del (err 0)
  Jan 05 12:10:55 raleigh.local kernel: nvidia: Unknown symbol mtrr_add (err 0)

If we're providing it then it should be loadable into our shipping kernel.
  Otherwise maybe stop?
