install evtest, and when it happens next time, switch to a VT and run
evtest on the touchpad device to see if the kernel sends events

  Once or twice a week *after* resume from suspend I can no longer use
  the touchpad to movethe mouse pointer, mouse clicks are registered

  Reloading module psmouse works as a workaround.
