Thank you very much for a suggestion. The samba-common package is
already suggested by gvfs-backends package (which is recommended by
pcmanfm). May be that dependency should be raised from suggested to
recommended.

Hello
PcManFM is unable to browse SMB shares unless samba-common is present.
In my lubuntu default installation samba-common was not installed; pcmanfm
offered the go/network option, freezing for 5 minutes and exiting with an error
(I don't recall the error, but it was of no help).
