The thing is that when using Thunderbird with Gmail on IMAP, a message appear as new in differents folders.
As thunderbird display notification for new messages in all folder, the counter is waiting that we reload each folder before to reload the counter. This is quite annoying. It could be quite good to be able to select the folder to follow. For me only the inbox would be good but I can understand that for some people with automatic gmail filters it could be better as now. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/872147 Title: thunderbird launcher icon message notification does not change when messages are read Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The number of messages waiting is displayed in the thunderbird icon in my unity launcher, which is great. Normally, as I read the messages, this number decrements and then it disappears once they have all been read. However, if there are messages waiting when I first launch thunderbird, the number displayed in the icon remains fixed as I read them, until new messages arrive. Is this perhaps a dbus or unity issue instead? The same thing seems to be true for the number of events awaiting attention in skype - if there are events when I launch it, viewing the events doesn't reset the counter.
