  This is an old bug since 2012, upstream bug report:
  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=689082

  Tested on Xenial, when trying to install libxcomposite-dev:i386, the
  64bit version will be removed:

  $ sudo apt-get install libxcomposite-dev:i386
  Reading package lists... Done
  Building dependency tree       
  Reading state information... Done
  The following additional packages will be installed:
    libxcomposite1:i386
  The following packages will be REMOVED:
    libxcomposite-dev
  The following NEW packages will be installed:
    libxcomposite-dev:i386 libxcomposite1:i386
