Logout from xubuntu session causes blank screen

Bug description:
Installed xubuntu 14.04 64 bit on HP laptop with Optimus graphics. when
logging out from the xubuntu session, I get a blank screen and unresponsive PC.
Needs a hard power down.
I do have bumblebee installed. Problem happens whether I use nvidia-current
or nvidia-331 drivers.
In case anyone asks: I do not have nvidia-prime installed because it doesn't
work for me.
