  launcher disappeared in ubuntu 11.10

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  the launcher disappeared in ubuntu 11.10.  It still exists in the ubuntu 2d 
version.  How can I retrieve it?  I have a dell inspiron
  1420 laptop.
