I have exactly the same problem. Seems like Chrome 57 breaks with the
old plugin API. The plugin is installed but not working. It worked fine
in previous versions.

My system was just updated with chromium-browser
57.0.2987.98-0ubuntu0.16.04.1276 amd64 today. However, this resulted in
breaking the flash plugin. When I open a webpage requiring flash, the webpage
returned
"This plugin is not supported".
When i inspected the code, the failure appears to be related to:
