I must admit I'm not sure what you mean by "auto is set", is this some
Firefox setting?

However, new versions of Firefox should be available along with any
other updates to installed packages in Ubuntu.  Could you please check
in update-manager (or look for "Software updates" in dash) whether a new
Firefox version is available there.

Based on the report information you seem to be running Ubuntu 16.04, so
it should offer you Firefox 52

  I want to update to Firefox 51 but should this happen automatically if
  auto is set? I can download Firefox 51.0.1.tar.bz2 but don't know how
  to activate it. I am currently using 49.
