Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Binary package hint: pulseaudio I was using a bluetooth headset. moved out of range. got back and ubuntu 10.10 was "locked" it was not possible do anything on the desktop. The CPU was pegged at 100%. It was possible to switch to a console. Then I noticed that several gui apps. like firefox, panel ... was taking all the cpu. Puleaudio process was not running. after starting pulseaudio from the console the system got back into working state. lingering problem now is that the volume console on the indicator is doing nothing but if I open up the sound preferences then I can use that one to change volume. I do not know how the indocator applet is controlling the volume but it probably misses the fact that pulseaudio has restarted and send it's commands into the great void. So something in the system is going amok if pulseaudio for some reason decides to go away. There is some type of loop that happens for a lot of programs. I did a strace and there is some 1024 long read that fails with EAGAIN. but due to the VT losing history when one switch back to X I can no longer get more info than that.
