I tried removing pulseaudio, but the same issue happened with Alsa so it seems like there's a driver regression in the intel hda audio driver. There were no problems with Ubuntu 10.04. How to reproduce: 1. skype won't survive a day 2. just after a few hours mplayer refuses to play any audio or video files (just hangs at 0) 3. flash hangs, which on the other side hangs the chrome browser instance, for firefox of course this is a complete death sentence. How to solve that problem: * completely release the audio nodes and open them again (eg. by logging out from the system) but the issue will just happen again.
