Title:
No audio devices after latest batch of updates

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
There's no physical audio device left to configure after the latest
batch of updates. A dummy Output device is visible, but that's it. In
the Sound configuration, under the Hardware tab, there is no hardware
to be found. Everything worked fine before today's update.
