I started Firefox Nightly from a terminal and I think when I went to a Flash movie, the following appeared in the terminal: ALSA lib conf.c:1220:(parse_def) show is not a compound ALSA lib conf.c:1686:(snd_config_load1) _toplevel_:24:26:Unexpected char ALSA lib conf.c:3406:(config_file_open) /usr/share/alsa/pulse-alsa.conf may be old or corrupted: consider to remove or fix it I also get the same warnings if I run `aplay /usr/share/sounds/pop.wav` Sound seems to work despite the warnings. Google found the same error text in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/187569 . That gave me the idea to download and run alsa-info.sh % wget -O alsa-info.sh http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && chmod +x ./alsa-info.sh && ./alsa-info.sh which prints the same warnings. I will attach its output. I have pulseaudio 1:1.1-0ubuntu9 installed, and my /usr/share/alsa /pulse-alsa.conf is unchanged from the package. I have alsa-base 1.0.25+dfsg-0ubuntu installed.
