I installed Inkscape and it simply can't open any SVG files, not even its own
built-in examples.
For example, running it from the terminal to open an SVG file a pop-up shows
up with
'Failed to load the requested file xxxx.svg'
Then clicking on 'Close' for the message opens inkscape in a 'New document'
window.
